Lead the transformation of the stores and material management function by implementing digital technologies, process optimization, technology-enabled, data-driven stores operation that enhances inventory accuracy and support manufacturing excellence. The Store Manager is responsible for leading and managing all store and inventory operations in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures effective receipt, storage, issuance, and control of raw materials, consumables, tools, spares, and finished goods while maintaining inventory accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. The Store Manager will work closely with the Purchase, Production, Quality, Finance, and Dispatch teams to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations and optimize inventory management. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a digital transformation roadmap for stores and material management.
- Implement solution including ERP implementation, Store Management Systems.
- Improve inventory accuracy to system controls by defining ageing policies.
- Ensure efficient material flow using Just in Time principles.
- Lead and manage all day-to-day store operations, ensuring smooth material flow across departments.
- Develop and implement efficient inventory control systems and store management processes.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimum stock to support production requirements.
- Plan and supervise periodic, monthly, and annual physical stock verification and inventory audits.
- Ensure accurate inventory records in ERP/Tally and maintain all store-related documentation.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Planning, Quality,
and Finance departments for material availability and reconciliation.
- Analyze inventory reports and implement strategies to minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
- Ensure proper storage methods, material identification, FIFO/FEFO practices, and preservation of materials.
- Establish and enforce safety standards, housekeeping (5S), and statutory compliance within the store.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, stock turnover, and material availability.
- Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of store personnel.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining complete documentation and compliance records.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance store efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Master degree in Supply Chain Management or Material Management.
- 20+ years of experience in store and inventory management within a manufacturing or heavy engineering industry.
- Proven experience managing large-scale stores handling raw materials, fabricated components, consumables, tools, and finished goods.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, warehouse operations, and material planning.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, Tally, and advanced MS Excel.
- Good understanding of inventory valuation, stock reconciliation, and audit procedures.
- Knowledge of FIFO, FEFO, 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Warehouse practices.
- Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
Experience in heavy fabrication, engineering, EPC, or manufacturing industries will be preferred
