Job Summary

Epistemo Vikas Leadership School is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and passionate Head of English for the Cambridge Curriculum (Grades 6 to 10). This is a working Head of Department role where the successful candidate will lead the English Department while actively teaching English. The role requires strong academic leadership, curriculum expertise, teacher mentoring, and a commitment to delivering outstanding learning outcomes.

The ideal candidate should be capable of building a high-performing English department, mentoring teachers, driving curriculum excellence, and creating an engaging learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities

- Teach English to students in Grades 6 to 10 following the Cambridge curriculum.
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centred lessons that promote critical thinking and creativity.
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, projects, and learning resources.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and provide academic support where required.
- Create an inclusive, positive, and stimulating classroom environment.

Department Leadership

- Lead and manage the English Department to achieve academic excellence.
- Mentor, coach, and support English teachers in effective teaching practices.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure consistency in lesson planning, classroom delivery, assessments, and academic standards.




- Drive continuous improvement within the department through collaborative planning and professional development.
- Support recruitment, induction, and training of English faculty.

Curriculum and Assessment

- Plan and implement the Cambridge English curriculum.
- Develop annual curriculum plans, schemes of work, and assessment calendars.
- Design and review question papers, assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Analyse assessment data and implement strategies to improve student achievement.
- Ensure compliance with Cambridge academic standards and best practices.

Student Development

- Encourage students to develop strong communication, reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Organise literary events, debates, public speaking competitions, creative writing activities, and reading programmes.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support and implement intervention plans.
- Promote student participation in academic competitions and enrichment activities.

Academic Administration

- Maintain departmental records, lesson plans, assessment data, and academic reports.
- Coordinate with the School Leadership Team on curriculum planning and academic initiatives.
- Ensure timely completion of assessments, report cards,



and academic documentation.
- Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, professional development programmes, and school events.

Candidate Profile

- M.A. English with B.Ed. (Mandatory).
- Minimum 3 years of Cambridge teaching experience in Middle School.
- Experience as a Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, Team Leader, or similar leadership role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Cambridge curriculum and assessment framework.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Proven ability to lead a team while maintaining teaching responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and educational technology.
- Passion for continuous learning and educational excellence.
