General Position Summary:
On the Real Estate Advisory team, you will perform and support engagements related to the valuation and advisory of real estate assets and real estate entities. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing financial models, conducting business enterprise valuations of real estate entities, preparing appraisals of real property for a variety of purposes, and performing real and personal property valuations for financial reporting purposes, primarily under ASC 805, ASC 820, and ASC 360. You will analyze and review third-party valuations of real estate assets and entities, provide technical commentary and recommendations to Baker Tillys audit engagement teams, and assist in ensuring the quality and accuracy of valuation deliverables. Additionally, you will support the development of junior team members, contribute to client communications, and assist with the research, development, and publication of firm thought leadership related to valuation and real estate advisory services.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret entity, portfolio, and property-level financial data, including historical performance and forecasts, to support valuation and advisory engagements.
- Conduct economic, market, industry, and property-level research to assess factors impacting real estate values and investment decisions. • Develop, customize, and maintain valuation models using methodologies such as discounted cash flow, direct capitalization, sales comparison, and cost approaches.
- Prepare and review valuation analyses,
supporting workpapers, and client deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with professional standards.
- Assist in the evaluation and review of third-party appraisals and valuation reports, providing technical observations and recommendations.
- Review work performed by Associates, provide guidance and feedback, and support their technical and professional development.
- Stay current on valuation methodologies, accounting guidance, and real estate market trends through continuing education, career development, and independent research.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. Coursework in real estate and/or valuation a plus
• Minimum 3 years of experience into finance or valuation
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills required
• Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required, along with preferred strong writing abilities and availability to travel for client-related work.
• Real estate asset management, audit or valuation experience
• Familiarity with subscription sources such as CoStar and Argus valuation software.
