ROLE PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE

1. To identify, evaluate, and incubate emerging technologies and relevant use cases in banking, enabling structured experimentation and scalable innovation aligned with regulatory, security, and business priorities.

2. To institutionalize a bank-wide innovation framework by enabling co-creation, piloting, and democratization of technology adoption across business units.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

1. Business/ Financials

Continuously monitor emerging technologies (AI/ML, GenAI, blockchain, embedded finance, RPA etc.) and identify relevant banking use cases

Manage and optimize budgets for pilot programs and innovation initiatives

Evaluate business cases and ROI for scaling incubated solutions

Design and implement a structured framework for evaluating and piloting emerging technologies under defined compliance, security, and CUG guardrails

Partner with sponsor Business Units and SPOCs to co-create, incubate, operate, measure, and fine-tune use cases

Drive end-to-end incubation lifecycle: ideation validation pilot measurement scale

Establish success metrics (customer impact, efficiency gains, cost, adoption)

2. Customer (Both Internal & External)

Enhance customer and user experience by integrating innovative, digital-first solutions into banking journeys

Collaborate with Business Units and their SPOCs for use case execution

Work with IT, Digital, and Data Science teams for technology integration and scalability

3. Internal Process

Ensure all technology pilots comply with RBI guidelines, security, data privacy, and outsourcing norms

Operate within defined approval frameworks and experimentation guardrails

Build standardized incubation frameworks, playbooks, and governance models

4. Innovation & Learning

Build an internal innovation community through workshops, demos, and knowledge-sharing sessions

Individual contributor role with strong influence across cross-functional teams

Facilitate collaboration across Business, IT, Risk, and external partners

Build and nurture partnerships with accelerators, academic institutions, and tech ecosystem players

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Educational

Qualifications MBA / PGDM (Strategy, Finance, IT) or equivalent

Engineering / Technology background preferred

Experience Range (Years and Core Experience Type)

6–10 years in Banking / Fintech / Digital Innovation / Technology Strategy

Experience in innovation labs, incubation programs, or digital transformation initiatives

Certifications

- Preferred: Agile/Scrum, Innovation, Digital Banking, or Fintech certifications

Functional Skills

Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their banking applications

Experience in designing and executing pilot programs and incubation frameworks

Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (RBI, data privacy, outsourcing norms)

Strong program/project management and business case development skills
