SW Integrator Test Developer System Health
Unit and team Overview
This project is part of the infotainment and vehicle software platform from BMW. It focuses on maintaining and evolving the System Health components: recovery of systemd services, system watchdog functionality, and filesystem recovery operating across the Linux and Android layers of the infotainment system. These components deliver highly configurable recovery mechanisms that ensure reliability and resilience of critical system services.
Job Description
- As part of a energetic and agile team you will own the integration and validation of system health components across Linux (Yocto/Bitbake) and Android builds.
- You will develop and maintain BAT and domain-level tests using the teams test framework, ensuring coverage of recovery scenarios on target hardware.
- You will be working with tools such as Bitbake, Android build system, Python, CMake, Git/GitHub EE, Zuul CI, and Jenkins.
Qualifications
Basic requirements and Education
- Business fluent English
- University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study
Required Experience and Skills
- At least 3 years of experience in software integration, testing, or build release technologies.
- Experience with Yocto/Bitbake-based Linux builds and integration workflows.
- Solid Python development experience including object-oriented programming, designing reusable modules and building command-line tools for automation or system tasks.
- Hands-on experience with Git (branching, tagging, cherry-picking, merge conflict resolution).
- Familiarity with CI systems (Zuul, Jenkins, or similar).
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (BAT, integration, domain-level).
- Basic understanding of Linux systems: systemd, process management, filesystem concepts.
- Self-driven and able to work independently as member of a Scrum team.
Good to Have
- Android platform build and integration experience.
- Experience with Docker-based build environments.
- Familiarity with debugging tools (gdb, strace, DLT log analysis).
- Knowledge of inter-process communication frameworks (CommonAPI, D-Bus, AIDL).
- C++ reading proficiency for understanding component code under test.
- Familiarity with SELinux.
