Position Summary
The Application Engineer will serve as the technical bridge between ENEPL's battery pack design and OEM
vehicle platforms, primarily E-Rickshaw (L3) and E-Auto (L5) applications. The role requires deep
understanding of powertrain-battery interaction, cell electrochemistry, and system-level integration to ensure
batteries are correctly matched, validated, and optimized for each vehicle platform.
Key Responsibilities
1. Battery-Vehicle Integration
• Own the technical integration of LFP battery packs with L3 and L5 vehicle platforms — mechanical fitment,
electrical interfacing, thermal management, and mounting/enclosure compatibility.
• Work with OEM engineering teams to define battery pack specifications (voltage, capacity, form factor,
connector, BMS communication protocol) matched to vehicle requirements.
• Support design reviews for current platform onboarding, including CAD fitment checks, wiring harness
routing, and connector/interface finalization.
2. Powertrain Characterization
• Analyze motor controller, motor, and drivetrain load profiles (torque-speed curves, peak/continuous current
draw, regen braking characteristics) to define battery discharge/charge requirements.
• Correlate vehicle duty cycles (start-stop, gradient, payload, range requirements) with battery sizing, C-rate
capability, and thermal derating limits.
• Validate battery performance against powertrain demands through road trials, bench simulation, and data
logging (voltage sag, current spikes, temperature rise).
3. Cell Chemistry & Pack Performance
• Apply working knowledge of LFP (LiFePO4)

cell chemistry — voltage curves, SOC-OCV relationship,
internal resistance (ACIR/DCIR), cycle life behavior, and temperature sensitivity — to application-level
decisions.
• Support cell/vendor evaluation and IQC teams by translating chemistry-level cell data into application
performance implications (range, life, safety margins).
• Provide input on charge/discharge protocols, derating curves, and BMS parameter settings based on cell
characteristics and application duty cycle.
4. Field Support & Issue Resolution
• Investigate field performance issues (range shortfall, premature capacity fade, thermal events) with a
systems view spanning cell, BMS, and vehicle integration.
• Conduct root cause analysis for application-specific failures and recommend corrective actions in
coordination with R&D;, Quality, and Service teams.
5. Documentation & Validation
• Prepare application-specific test plans, DVP inputs, and validation reports for new vehicle platform
qualification.
• Maintain technical documentation: integration guides, interface control documents, and application notes
for each OEM/platform.
Required Qualifications
Education: Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.

Experience: 2–5 years in EV battery application engineering, preferably with exposure to L3/L5 category
vehicles (E-Rickshaw, E-Auto, E-Loader).
Technical Knowledge
• Strong understanding of LFP cell chemistry — voltage behavior, SOC estimation, cycle life, thermal
characteristics, and safety limits.
• Working knowledge of EV powertrain fundamentals — BLDC/PMSM motor behavior, motor controller
current/voltage demands, regenerative braking, and load profile analysis.
• Familiarity with BMS functions (protection thresholds, balancing, communication protocols —
CAN/UART/BLE) and how they interface with vehicle systems.
• Understanding of AIS 156 and related regulatory/safety standards for EV batteries in India.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring harness diagrams, and mechanical fitment
drawings.
Skills
• Data analysis proficiency (Excel; Python a plus) for interpreting field/test data.
• Strong cross-functional coordination — works closely with R&D;, Quality, Manufacturing, and OEM
customer teams.
• Structured problem-solving with physics/data-based justification (not assumption-based conclusions).
Desired Attributes
• Prior hands-on experience with E-Rickshaw/E-Auto OEMs or Tier-1 battery/BMS suppliers.
• Exposure to thermal management design considerations for battery packs in tropical/Indian operating
conditions.
• Willingness to travel for OEM site visits, field trials, and customer technical discussions.
