Senior IBM Mainframe Expert SMP/E and z/OSMF, Remote

Job Summary

We are looking for highly experienced Mainframe SMP/E and z/OSMF Experts with minimum 10 years of relevant Mainframe experience to join a long-term engagement supporting a leading US-based client. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in SMP/E, z/OSMF Software Management, REST APIs, Git, USS/OMVS, Python and REXX, along with hands-on experience in z/OS, ISV software installations, maintenance, and customization. The role focuses on enterprise patch management, vulnerability management, CVE reporting, AI-enabled testing, and secure software deployment within IBM Mainframe environments.

Position Details

- Contract Duration - Long-term assignment - 18 to 24 months
- Location - Coimbatore/Trichy/Pune/Bangalore/Chennai/Mumbai, India
- Work Mode - Remote - Candidates must be based in one of the above locations
- Work Timings - Regular India Office Hours
- Communication Skills - Excellent

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with vulnerability management teams to support Enterprise z/OS CVE reporting processes.
- Define and implement automation timelines for Mainframe Patch Management.
- Develop patch response models, including ad hoc remediation and critical escalation scenarios.
- Establish operational patching cadence - daily, weekly, and monthly for deployment and validation.




- Review CVE package stability and enhance reporting and dashboard capabilities.
- Configure and optimize SMP/E processes, define baseline datasets, and integrate with vulnerability scanning tools.
- Develop AI-driven prompts and automation for testing, RFB validation, and impact analysis.
- Provide technical advisory and implementation support for secure, stable, and compliant software deployments.

Mandatory Skills

- Minimum 10 years of relevant Mainframe experience.
- Minimum 12 years of overall IT experience.
- 10 to 15 years of strong hands-on experience in SMP/E.
- Experience with z/OSMF Software Management and REST APIs.
- Strong knowledge of Git and USS/OMVS.
- Hands-on experience with z/OS and ISV software installation, maintenance, and customization.
- Excellent testing expertise, including designing tests to validate software functionality, robustness, and performance.
- Robust scripting skills in Python and REXX.
- Basic knowledge of IBM software products and Mainframe ISV software customization.
