Job Description: Executive – HR/IR

Position Title: Executive – HR / Industrial Relations

Location: Atit

Employment Type: Contract (via TeamLease)

Role Purpose

To support day-to-day HR and Industrial Relations (IR) operations at the plant, with a strong focus on managing union interactions, maintaining a stable IR climate, and ensuring statutory compliance and smooth workforce operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Industrial Relations & Union Management

- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day union interactions at the plant
- Support management in handling discussions with union representatives on operational and employee-related matters
- Track and monitor union demands, issues, and informal feedback from the shop floor
- Assist in preparation and execution of long-term settlements (LTS), wage agreements, and MOUs
- Ensure proper documentation of union meetings, minutes, and agreements
- Support in managing sensitive situations such as work stoppages, tool-downs, or agitation risks
- Maintain disciplined communication channels and avoid escalation through unofficial/back channels
- Work closely with line managers to ensure consistent application of agreed terms

2. Grievance Handling & Discipline

- Coordinate resolution of workmen grievances in line with agreed IR frameworks
- Support disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and documentation
- Ensure adherence to standing orders and certified service rules

3. Contract Labour & Contractor Interface

- Act as a coordination point between management, contractors, and union (where applicable)
- Monitor union influence or concerns relating to contract labour deployment




- Ensure compliance with CLRA and mitigate risks of union disputes involving contract workforce

4. Statutory Compliance

- Ensure adherence to labour laws (Factories Act, CLRA, ID Act, Wages, PF, ESIC, etc.)
- Maintain statutory registers, returns, and IR documentation
- Support labour authorities' inspections and union-related compliance matters

5. Employee Relations & Engagement

- Maintain a positive work workplace through structured communication and engagement
- Support communication rollouts involving unionized workforce
- Provide feedback to HR/IR leadership on workforce sentiment and early warning signals

6. HR Operations Support

- Assist in onboarding, documentation, and exit processes
- Maintain HR records and support payroll inputs
- Prepare periodic MIS on IR metrics (grievances, absenteeism, disputes, etc.)

Key Requirements

Education

- Graduate / Postgraduate in HR / IR / Labour Laws

Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in HR/IR in a manufacturing/plant setup
- Hands-on exposure to unionized environment is mandatory

Skills

- Strong understanding of Industrial Disputes Act, union frameworks, and collective bargaining
- Ability to manage union sensitivities and shop-floor dynamics
- Good negotiation, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
- High level of discretion and confidentiality

Key Competencies

- Conflict resolution and negotiation
- Strong situational judgement in union environments
- Relationship management with union representatives and line supervisors
- Proactive risk identification (early IR signals)
- Ability to work in sensitive IR situations
