Job Description Building Energy Simulation Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a Building Energy Simulation Engineer to support our sustainability and energy team in Sweden. This role is intended as a technical complement to our Swedish-based consultants, where you will primarily work with energy modelling and simulations, while project leadership, client interaction and certification strategy are handled by the team in Sweden.
The core of the role is building energy modelling in IDA ICE. While prior experience with IDA ICE is an advantage, it is not a requirement. However, experience with building energy simulations is essential, and the candidate must be willing and able to quickly learn and work in IDA ICE as the primary simulation tool.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop building energy models, primarily using IDA ICE, in close coordination with the Swedish energy consultants.
- Perform energy and thermal performance simulations for buildings in early and detailed design stages.
- Prepare calculation reports and simulation outputs for internal reviews and external submissions.
- Support energy-related documentation for BREEAM and/or LEED projects under guidance from the Swedish team.
- Ensure simulations and calculations align with Swedish building regulations, project-specific requirements, and best practice.
- Carry out limited Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)



and carbon calculations when required (secondary responsibility).
- Update and refine energy models based on design changes, feedback, and coordination meetings.

Required Skills & Software

- Strong experience in building energy simulations using any recognised energy modelling software
(e.g. EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, IES VE, eQuest, TRNSYS, etc.).
- IDA ICE experience is a strong advantage, but not mandatory. Training and onboarding will be provided.
- Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to communicate technical results clearly in English.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or similar.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building energy modelling or simulation-based roles.
- Prior exposure to BREEAM and/or LEED projects is beneficial but not required.
- Interest in working with European and Swedish building standards is considered a plus.
