About Us

At SHJ International, we're building a next-generation cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS) used by logistics companies across North America.

Our platform processes thousands of shipments daily using a microservices architecture, event-driven processing, and modern cloud infrastructure. We're looking for an experienced Database Engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges and building highly reliable, scalable database systems.

What You'll Do

- Design and maintain highly scalable relational databases.
- Build effective database schemas for enterprise applications.
- Optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Design indexing strategies for high-performance applications.
- Monitor database performance and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Implement replication, backups, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Tune databases handling millions of records.
- Work closely with software engineers to improve application performance.
- Design partitioning and archival strategies for large datasets.
- Manage database security, permissions, and auditing.
- Review application database designs before production deployment.
- Troubleshoot production database issues with minimal downtime.
- Support DevOps teams with database deployments and migrations.

Required Skills

- 4+ years of experience as a Database Engineer or DBA.
- Strong expertise in MariaDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Excellent SQL query writing and optimization skills.
- Deep understanding of:
- Indexing
- Query execution plans
- Transactions
- Locking
- Deadlock analysis
- Isolation levels

- Experience with database replication and failover.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.




- Experience designing normalized and denormalized schemas.
- Strong understanding of data integrity and constraints.
- Experience working with high-volume production databases.
