Senior IoT Engineer – Embedded & Edge Computing (Azure IoT Hub / IoT Edge) (Hands-on Individual Contributor Role) Experience: 8+ years of robust hands-on technical experience in Embedded Systems, Edge Computing, and IoT development.

Role Summary
We are looking for a deeply hands-on Senior IoT Engineer with a pure technical background in embedded software development and edge-device processing using Azure IoT Hub and Azure IoT Edge. This role requires daily coding, low-level debugging, and production ownership of device software, edge modules, and cloud connectivity. The engineer will personally design, implement, test, deploy, and operate IoT and edge workloads—not an architecture-only or managerial role.

Core Responsibilities (Hands-On Only)
Embedded & Device-Side Software Development (Primary Focus)
• Write production-grade embedded software for:
• Linux-based edge gateways
• ARM/x86 SBCs and industrial IoT devices
• Develop device-side agents/services responsible for:
• sensor data acquisition
• local validation, buffering, compression
• health monitoring, watchdogs, and crash recovery
• Implement hardware interfaces and peripheral access:
• UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, GPIO, ADC




• Optimize code for:
• CPU and memory constraints
• predictable latency and stability
• long-running uptime (weeks/months
Azure IoT Hub – Device Integration (Hands-On Coding)
• Implement device clients using Azure IoT SDKs (C/C++/Python/C#):
• telemetry publishing
• cloud-to-device messaging
• direct method handlers
• device and module twin sync
• Implement secure device authentication using:
• DPS with X.509 certificates
• symmetric keys / TPM where applicable
• Handle real-world scenarios:
• reconnect logic
• throttling, backoff, retries
• message ordering and idempotency
Azure IoT Edge – Edge Module Development
• Build custom IoT Edge modules from scratch:
• data processing, filtering, aggregation
• protocol gateways (Modbus/OPC-UA/custom TCP)
• Write and maintain:
• Dockerfiles
• IoT Edge deployment manifests
• Implement:
• inter-module communication
• custom message routing
• store-and-forward patterns
• Debug edge runtime, module crashes, and deployment failures directly on devices.
Edge Processing & Offline-First Implementation
• Implement offline-first edge logic:
• local persistence using SQLite / file queues




• guaranteed message delivery and replay
• backpressure control
• Code robust handling for:
• intermittent connectivity
• sudden power loss
• partial module or network failures
• Ensure correctness during delayed sync and reprocessing.
Security – Code-Level Ownership
• Implement TLS-based secure communication end-to-end
• Handle certificate loading, rotation, and expiry recovery in code
• Implement secure storage of credentials/secrets on device
• Apply OS- and container-level security practices:
• least privilege containers
• read-only filesystems (where feasible)
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement software solutions using c++ programming language
2. Collaborate with cross functional teams to design, develop, and test software applications
3. Optimize software performance and troubleshoot issues as needed
4. Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior team members
5. Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in c++ programming
6. Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to deployment
Skill Requirements
1. Proficiency in c++ programming language
2. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
3. Experience with object-oriented design principles
4. Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools
5. Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex software applications
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Other Requirements
