Job Description: A Management Information System (MIS) Executive or Officer in a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) / Steel Manufacturing plant is responsible for collecting, validating, and analyzing production, inventory, and operational data. They turn raw data into actionable reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for management to monitor furnace efficiency, raw material consumption, and yield. Key Responsibilities & Job Description

- Production Monitoring: Tracking daily production of SMS (induction furnace/EAF/CCM), including charging, melting, alloying, and tapping to calculate efficiency and yield.
- Data Accuracy & Validation: Ensuring accurate data entry of raw materials (coal, iron ore) and finished steel, validating data against inputs from SMS technicians.
- Reporting: Preparing and presenting daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports on production, logistics, and inventory to senior management.
- Ad-hoc Analysis: Using Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) or ERP systems to analyze production trends and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Coordination: Working with production, procurement,



and logistics teams for data collection and reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of MS Excel (Macros, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Dashboards) is mandatory.
- ERP Familiarity: Experience working with ERP systems is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Mathematics, Science (b.com), or engineering, with 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing/steel workplace.
- Analytical Ability: Ability to handle large datasets, identify trends, and analyze cost variations.

SMS/Steel Manufacturing Specific Tasks

- Recording Furnace Lining and Sintering Data.
- Tracking Charge-Mix Efficiency.
- Maintaining Inventory Records of Refractories and Raw Materials.
- Vehicle monitoring for inward/outward movement of raw materials and finished products.
