Job Description: A Control Room Operator (CRO) for a Ferro Alloys unit in a steel plant is responsible for monitoring and controlling submerged arc furnaces (SAF), raw material handling, and power parameters via DCS/SCADA systems to ensure productive production. Key roles include managing furnace temperature, electrode positioning, and tapping schedules while adhering to safety protocols. [1, 2, 3] Key Responsibilities

- Furnace Monitoring: Operate SCADA/DCS/PLC panels to manage furnaces, including raw material feeding, power load, and voltage regulation.
- Quality & Process Control: Ensure correct tapping schedules, maintain alloy quality, and oversee cooling water systems.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational issues like electrode breakage, raw material jamming, or shutdowns.
- Coordination: Collaborate with field operators, shift engineers, and maintenance teams for smooth production and maintenance tasks.
- Safety & Compliance:



Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring safe handling of hot metal and gases.

Skills and Qualifications

- Education: Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Metallurgy) or ITI.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in furnace operation in ferro alloys, steel, or sponge iron plants.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SCADA/DCS/PLC systems.
