Role Overview

The Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for development and integration of low-level software components for BMW automotive ECUs. The engineer will work closely with hardware design teams and contribute to board bring-up, driver development, RTOS integration, and ECU software integration.

Key Responsibilities

Embedded Platform Development

- Perform microcontroller and board bring-up activities.
- Develop and integrate: MCAL Drivers, ECAL Components, HAL Drivers, Device Drivers, Bootloaders
- Develop startup software and platform initialization logic.
- Configure interrupt and memory management frameworks.

ECU Software Integration

- Integrate software on recent hardware platforms.
- Support RTOS integration activities.
- Perform software and hardware debugging.
- Support communication stack integration.

Driver Development

- Develop and maintain drivers for: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO, DMA, etc.

Development Automation

- Contribute to build automation infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain build scripts and CI/CD solutions.
- Support software configuration and release management.





Quality & Compliance

- Create design documentation.
- Participate in software reviews.
- Support ASPICE and Functional Safety activities.
- Support cybersecurity implementation requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related disciplines.
- 5–10 years of embedded software development experience.
- Strong experience in: Embedded C, BSP Development, Board Bring-up, MCAL/HAL Development, ECU Integration, RTOS, Bootloader Development
- Good to have: C++, Python
- Experience with: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART
- Experience with automotive microcontrollers (at least one): Infineon AURIX, NXP S32, Renesas RH850, ST Microcontrollers
- Working knowledge of: Linker Scripts, Memory Mapping, Startup Code, Build Systems, Debuggers, Git
- Knowledge of Agile Scrum/Kanban
