Role Summary
The QA Apprentice is an entry-level role designed to provide hands-on experience in software quality assurance while contributing to the delivery of high-quality digital assessment products. Working under the guidance of experienced QA engineers, the apprentice will learn software testing principles, execute manual test cases, document defects, and gain exposure to up-to-date development and testing practices within an Agile environment.
This role provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in software testing, collaboration, and quality engineering while supporting Pearson's Q-interactive platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute manual test cases for web and iPad applications under the guidance of senior QA engineers.
- Verify bug fixes and perform regression testing during sprint and release cycles.
- Document software defects clearly and accurately using defect tracking tools.
- Assist in creating, reviewing, and maintaining test cases and test documentation.
- Learn the functionality of Q-interactive assessments and related applications.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and support teams to understand requirements and expected behavior.
- Assist with test data setup and execution of functional and exploratory testing.
- Learn software quality best practices, accessibility fundamentals, and testing methodologies.
- Continuously develop technical and professional skills through mentoring and structured learning.
Desired Skills
- Recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of software development or software testing concepts.
