Job Description: A Lab Head for a steel manufacturing plant (Sponge Iron, SMS, Power Plant) leads 24/7 quality control, overseeing raw material, molten metal, and finished product testing. This senior role ensures metallurgical compliance, calibrates instrumentation, and manages a team of chemists/operators for continuous process improvement. Key Responsibilities

- Quality Control Management: Oversee 24/7 chemical and physical testing of raw materials (coal, ore), slag, intermediate materials, and finished steel.
- Process Improvement: Analyze laboratory data to optimize production processes and improve productivity.
- Team Leadership: Lead and train lab technicians, operators, and practitioners.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure lab operations adhere to quality standards (ISO/NABL) and safety protocols.
- Instrumentation Maintenance: Coordinate the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment such as Spectrometers and Physical Testing Machines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, and documentation.




- Technical Coordination: Work closely with the Plant Manager/Production Team to maintain real-time process control. Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: B.Sc/M.Sc in Inorganic/Analytical Chemistry or B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy.
- Experience: Previous experience in a steel plant or Steel Melting Shop (SMS) lab is required.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metallurgical processes, chemical analysis techniques, and steel casting (Stainless Steel, High Alloy Steel). Common Job Search Terms
