Role summary:
Own end-to-end production of custom mechanical/electro-mechanical instruments from vendor job-work coordination through assembly to on-time delivery — while ensuring mechanical build quality meets design intent and tolerance requirements.

Core responsibilities:
Plan and schedule production runs against sales/delivery commitments; maintain a rolling production calendar
Follow up with external vendors on job work (machining, sheet metal, casting, plating/finishing, etc.) — track PO status, lead times, and delays
Review incoming vendor parts for dimensional and cosmetic conformance before they enter assembly
Make or escalate mechanical decisions: tolerance stack-up issues, fit/finish problems, material substitutions, fixture/jig design for assembly
Coordinate with design/R&D; on drawing changes, ECOs, and DFM feedback when parts consistently fail at vendors
Own final assembly planning — sequencing, manpower allocation, in-house rework
Maintain inspection records, NCRs (non-conformance reports), and basic traceability documentation
Report on production status, bottlenecks, and vendor performance to management

Must-have technical background:

Degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or Production/Industrial Engineering)
Working knowledge of GD&T; and reading engineering drawings — this is non-negotiable given your quality issues
Hands-on exposure to at least 2–3 of: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, casting, surface finishing (anodizing/plating/powder coating)
Comfortable making a judgment call on the shop floor without escalating every issue (e.g., "is this tolerance deviation acceptable or does it go back to the vendor")
Experience managing outsourced vendors — POs, delivery follow-up, negotiating rework

Nice-to-have:
Experience with medical device or precision instrument manufacturing (ISO 13485 awareness is a solid plus given your Trimed/MCL context)
Basic CAD literacy (SolidWorks/Inventor) to interpret and flag design vs. manufacturability conflicts
Exposure to inspection tools (Vernier, micrometer, CMM basics)

Experience level: 4–8 years, ideally with time spent in a job-work-heavy manufacturing workplace (not a pure high-volume factory) — someone used to variable, low-volume, custom-part production rather than mass production lines.
