Role & responsibilities
Provide individualized lactation consultation to antenatal and postnatal mothers.
Assess breastfeeding techniques, infant feeding patterns, and maternal concerns.
Educate mothers and family members on breastfeeding perks, positioning, latching techniques, milk expression, storage and recent born feeding cues.
Identify and manage common breastfeeding challenges, including engorgement, sore nipples, mastitis, low milk supply, and infant latching difficulties.
Offer emotional support and confidence-building to mothers during their breastfeeding journey.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital protocols.
Collaborate with Obstetricians, Pediatricians, Neonatologists, Nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Conduct breastfeeding awareness sessions, patient education programs, and health promotion activities as required.
Stay updated with current evidence-based lactation practices and hospital guidelines.
Ensure adherence to infection control policies and patient safety standards.
