Mission Overview At AlgoForge Aerospace, our propulsion ambitions are bottlenecked by the physical limits of the periodic table. As a High-Temp Materials Scientist, your mission is to push those limits. You will dictate the metallurgical reality of our launch vehicles.

Whether it is characterizing GRCop-42 copper alloys to survive the supersonic shockwaves of a Rotating Detonation Engine, or engineering CERMET (Ceramic-Metal) composites for the core of our Nuclear Thermal Rocket, you ensure our hardware does not melt, shatter, or vaporize in flight.

Operational Objectives

Lead the metallurgical characterization and qualification of additively manufactured (3D printed) superalloys, ensuring zero micro-porosity in thrust chambers. Develop, test, and qualify ultra-high-temperature CERMET composites (e.g., Tungsten/Uranium Dioxide surrogates) for deep-space nuclear fission cores. Execute aggressive failure analysis on post-hot-fire engine components utilizing SEM, EDS, XRD, and EBSD to identify fatigue, creep, and thermal-shock propagation.

Define heat treatment, Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), and surface finishing protocols for complex, regeneratively cooled engine geometries.



Collaborate intimately with Propulsion and Generative Design teams to ensure material properties directly anchor their 6-DOF and CFD simulations.

Mission Prerequisites MS or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Condensed Matter Physics. Extensive hands-on experience characterizing refractory metals (W, Mo, Nb), nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Monel), and advanced ceramics. Expertise in the unique microstructural anomalies introduced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) additive manufacturing.

Uncompromising proficiency in running and interpreting high-resolution electron microscopy (SEM/TEM) and X-ray crystallography. A relentless drive to push material boundaries—you must be comfortable dealing with hardware that has been subjected to extreme multi-axial stress and >2500K temperatures. — Deployment Advantages — Lab Authority Unrestricted access to state-of-the-art microscopy and material testing rigs.
