Role & responsibilities
This role focuses on executing the Current Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle for general industrial components. You will guide recent products from initial engineering drawings through prototyping, sand pattern development, die tooling setup, post-cast CNC machining layout, and initial trial runs until the process is reliable for commercial manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities of NPI
Technical Design Review (DFM)
Feasibility Analysis: Review customer 2D/3D CAD models to ensure compatibility based on the selected process with supplier.
Tooling Development
Die Tooling Coordination: Work with supplier to manufacture cost-effective die Molds and trim dies based on projected annual production volumes.
Machining Process & Fixture Design
Machining Strategy: Establish the standard routing for secondary operations on CNC milling centres, VMCs, and CNC turning lathes.
Fixture Design: Review the concept with supplier and validate Design before manufacturing.
Trial Testing & Process Stabilization
Sample Runs: Oversee pilot production batches (first-article inspections) to establish baseline operating parameters.
Documentation & Handover
Work Instructions: Standardize the manufacturing routing steps, visual quality criteria, and fettling/machining fixtures for the factory floor.
Scrap Reduction: Analyze initial trial defects (like porosity or sand wash) to modify gating designs before full production release.
Preferred candidate profile
Grey & Ductile Iron Casting Knowledge
Aluminium die casting (HPDC & Gravity)
Machining & post-processing
