Role Description The Senior Finance Officer is a full time remote role responsible for overseeing financial planning and management for Mechanica, IIT Madras. This role includes preparing and reviewing budgets, monitoring expenses and revenues, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.

The Senior Finance

Officer will manage financial statements, track sponsorships and event-related cash flows, and support decision-making through data-driven financial analysis. Day-to-day tasks involve coordinating with event teams and vendors, maintaining compliance with institutional guidelines, improving financial processes, and providing clear financial insights to leadership.

Qualifications

Robust finance and financial reporting skills, with experience in budgeting and cash flow management.

Ability to prepare, analyze,



and interpret financial statements for diverse stakeholders.

Advanced analytical skills to evaluate financial performance and support strategic decisions.

Effective communication skills to present financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial software tools.

Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate across teams.

Experience in event finance, nonprofit or institutional finance, or student-led initiatives is an advantage.
