About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Avionics Engineer with 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in the UAV/aerospace industry. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, testing, integrating, and troubleshooting electronic systems, flight controllers, wiring harnesses, and navigation units for our high-performance drone platforms.
You will collaborate with embedded software engineers, mechanical designers, and flight test teams to build robust, scalable, and highly reliable drone architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Avionics Architecture & Design: Design and integrate avionics hardware architectures, including Flight Controller Units (FCUs), Power Distribution Boards (PDBs), Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs), telemetry modules, and payload interfaces.
- System Integration: Integrate sensors (IMU, GPS, LiDAR, optical flow, pitot tubes, camera payloads) and communication protocols (UART, CAN, I2C, SPI, MAVLink) onto UAV platforms.
- Wiring & Interconnects: Design schematic diagrams and custom cable/wiring harnesses optimized for weight, EMI/EMC shield protection, and environmental resistance.
- Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct bench testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, environmental stress testing, and troubleshoot hardware/firmware failures.
- Field Flight Support:
Collaborate with flight test pilots to evaluate flight data logs, diagnose in-flight electrical or telemetry issues, and refine avionics performance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Standards: Ensure avionics designs align with industry quality standards and civil aviation guidelines (e.g., DGCA standards, ISO/AS9100 where applicable).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech or M.E. / M.Tech in Avionics, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated experience in avionics, embedded electronics, or UAV system integration.
- Flight Controllers: In-depth knowledge of open-source and proprietary flight controllers (e.g., Pixhawk, Cube Autopilot, ArduPilot, PX4 framework).
- Hardware & Circuits: Hands-on experience with PCB debugging, soldering, multimeter/oscilloscope usage, and power management circuits.
- Communication Protocols: Solid understanding of UART, CAN Bus, SPI, I2C, MAVLink, RF communication, and satellite navigation systems (GNSS/GPS).
- Problem-Solving: Robust analytical skills for analysing flight logs (SLog/ULog) and diagnosing hardware/software communication errors.
