# Job Summary

The Consultant Cardiologist will provide comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and critical cardiac care. The consultant will diagnose and manage cardiovascular diseases, perform invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures, provide 24×7 emergency cardiac support as per roster, and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with NABH standards.

# Qualification

### Mandatory

* MBBS

* MD/DNB in General Medicine

* DM / DNB Cardiology (Super Speciality)

* Valid MMC/NMC Registration

### Preferred

* Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology or Structural Heart Disease

* ACLS & BLS Certification

# Experience

* Minimum 5–10 years of experience as an Independent Consultant Cardiologist.

* Experience in tertiary care/corporate hospitals preferred.

* Experience in managing emergency cardiac and critical care patients.

# Key Responsibilities

## 1. Outpatient (OPD)

* Conduct daily Cardiology OPD consultations.

* Diagnose and manage hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, and other cardiovascular disorders.

* Develop evidence-based treatment plans.

* Provide preventive cardiology counselling and lifestyle modification advice.





* Follow up with chronic cardiac patients.

## 2. Inpatient (IPD)

* Conduct daily rounds for admitted cardiac patients.

* Review investigations and modify treatment plans.

* Manage ICU, HDU and ward cardiac patients.

* Coordinate with Intensivists and treating consultants.

* Ensure timely discharge planning and documentation.

## 3. Emergency Cardiac Care

* Attend all emergency cardiac referrals.

* Manage Acute Coronary Syndrome (STEMI/NSTEMI).

* Treat unstable angina.

* Manage cardiogenic shock.

* Manage acute heart failure.

* Treat life-threatening arrhythmias.

* Attend Code Blue emergencies.

* Stabilize critically ill cardiac patients.

## 4. Cardiac ICU (CICU)

* Manage critically ill cardiac patients.

* Monitor hemodynamically unstable patients.

* Manage ventilated cardiac patients.

* Interpret invasive hemodynamic monitoring.

* Coordinate post-operative cardiac ICU care.

* Work closely with Cardiac Surgeons and Intensivists.

## 5. Non-Invasive Cardiology

The consultant should independently perform and interpret:

* 2D Echocardiography

* Doppler Echocardiography

* ECG

* TMT

* Holter Monitoring

* Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

* Stress Echocardiography (Preferred)

## 6. Interventional Cardiology

The consultant should independently perform or assist in:

* Coronary Angiography

* Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)

* Primary PCI

* Temporary Pacemaker insertion

* Permanent Pacemaker implantation

* Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) support

* Radial & Femoral interventions

* Peripheral interventions (Preferred)

## 7. Advanced Cardiac Care

Experience in managing:

* Heart Failure

* Cardiomyopathy





* Pulmonary Hypertension

* Valvular Heart Disease

* Cardiac Arrhythmias

* Post-CABG patients

* Post-Valve Replacement patients

* Cardiac emergencies

* High-risk cardiac procedures

## 8. Organ Transplant Support

The consultant will collaborate with the multidisciplinary transplant team in the assessment and management of cardiac aspects of transplant patients, including:

* Pre-transplant cardiac evaluation

* Peri-operative cardiac optimization

* Post-transplant cardiac monitoring

* Management of transplant-related cardiovascular complications

## 9. Clinical Governance & Quality

* Follow NABH standards and hospital policies.

* Maintain complete and accurate medical records.

* Participate in mortality and morbidity meetings.

* Conduct clinical audits.

* Ensure rational use of investigations and medications.

* Promote patient safety and infection control.

## 10. Academic & Teaching Responsibilities

* Mentor Junior Doctors, RMOs and Medical Officers.

* Participate in CMEs and departmental teaching.

* Present clinical cases and journal reviews.

* Support research and quality improvement initiatives.
