About the Role

As a Project Tech Lead (Python) at Mashreq, you will spearhead the technical design, development, and delivery of critical digital banking applications and enterprise integrations. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution, leading a squad of engineers to build scalable, secure, and high-performance Python-based solutions.

This role requires a hands-on technical expert who can architect microservices, drive Agile delivery, mentor developers, and ensure alignment with Mashreq's cloud-first and digital transformation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

- Technical Leadership & Architecture: Define technical strategy, system architecture, and design patterns for Python-based projects. Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Project Delivery & Governance: Lead the end-to-end technical delivery of projects. Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Owners, and Business Stakeholders to define technical roadmaps, sprint goals, and resource allocations.
- Hands-On Development: Write clean, maintainable, and highly efficient Python code for complex backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Team Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and upskill a team of software engineers. Conduct rigorous code reviews, enforce coding standards, and foster a culture of technical excellence.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Drive the adoption of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code. Ensure seamless deployment of applications into cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all solutions comply with banking regulatory standards, data privacy laws, and Mashreq's strict cybersecurity protocols.



Manage technical debt and system vulnerabilities.
- Stakeholder Management: Translate complex technical concepts into business terms for non-technical stakeholders. Proactively identify technical risks and formulate mitigation strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Experience: 8 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 5 years in a Technical Lead or Architectural capacity managing complex projects.
- Core Technology: Expert-level proficiency in Python and its ecosystem. Deep understanding of Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Architecture: Proven experience designing and implementing microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Cloud & Containers: Solid hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization/orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Databases: Expertise in both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra) databases. Solid understanding of ORMs.
- Agile/Scrum: Extensive experience leading technical delivery within Agile/Scrum environments using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Version Control & CI/CD: Proficiency with Git, Bitbucket/GitHub, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).

Preferred Qualifications

- Domain Expertise: Prior experience in Banking, Fintech, or Financial Services, particularly in digital banking, payments, or core banking integrations.
- Data/AI Exposure: Familiarity with data engineering pipelines (Airflow, PySpark) or integrating Machine Learning models into production environments.
- System Design: Strong grasp of domain-driven design (DDD) and distributed systems principles.
