We are seeking a Tooling Engineer with a robust background in product costing and development. You will review product drawings, determine tooling feasibility, and estimate tool and manufacturing costs.
Roles and Responsibility
Tooling & Design Review
Analyze 2D and 3D product drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
Identify design issues that could increase tooling complexity or cost.
Recommend design modifications to optimize tool life and production.
Determine required tool types, cavity counts, and cycle times.
Product Costing & Estimation
Calculate detailed cost estimates for current tools and molds.
Estimate piece-part costs based on material, labor, and machine rates.
Maintain a database of tooling and manufacturing cost metrics.
Evaluate supplier tooling quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
Product Development Support
Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with engineering teams.
Support Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
Track tooling budget and cost variations during development phases.
Guide design teams toward meeting target manufacturing costs.
Technical Skills
Proficient in CAD software (such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX).
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (molding, tool manufacturing).
Robust knowledge of tool construction, component parts, and wear factors.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
