Role & responsibilities
• Develop Civil 3D corridor and alignment models from approved horizontal and vertical design alignments.
• Model formation, sub-formation, and subgrade layers in accordance with geotechnical and track-bed designs.
• Model track superstructure components to the prescribed LOD/LOI, including rails, sleepers, fastening systems, track slabs, and ballast profiles.
• Adapt models for viaduct track-on-structure, at-grade ballasted track, depot turnouts and crossings, and tunnel geometry and clearance requirements.
• Build and maintain Civil 3D corridors, assemblies, and subassemblies to manage repetitive track cross-sections efficiently.
• Coordinate model geometry with structural, tunnel, systems, and depot disciplines to support clash-free integration.
• Apply BIM naming conventions, layer standards, and object and parameter requirements defined in the applicable BIM Execution Plan.
• Extract model quantities, including ballast volumes, slab volumes and areas, rail lengths, and sleeper counts.
• Export models to Navisworks for coordination review and support clash resolution with the BIM Manager.
• Incorporate design revisions promptly and maintain transparent model version control in the Common Data Setting.
Preferred candidate
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
• At least 5 years of hands-on AutoCAD Civil 3D experience, including corridor modelling, assemblies and subassemblies, alignments, and profiles.
• At least 23 years of experience modelling railway track systems, including ballasted or slab track; roads-only Civil 3D experience is not sufficient.
• Working knowledge of track engineering components, including rail sections, sleeper types, fastening systems, and ballast and slab-track systems.
• Experience modelling turnouts, points, and crossings for depot or yard trackwork is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of Navisworks for model review and clash checking.
• Familiarity with LOD/LOI requirements and BIM Execution Plan-driven modelling standards.
• Demonstrated ability to use corridor- and assembly-based workflows efficiently for high-volume modelling on large linear infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Revit for coordination of track slab or superstructure models is an advantage.
