Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a MAG Welder and Mechanic in the heavy construction equipment industry, based in Chennai. The role involves performing MAG welding on structural components and attachments for earthmoving and construction equipment, following safety and quality standards. The professional will diagnose mechanical issues, carry out repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy machinery, and assist with assembly, fitting, and replacement of parts. Daily tasks include inspecting equipment, documenting work performed, coordinating with supervisors and service teams, and ensuring machines are returned to safe, reliable operating condition.



The role also requires adherence to workplace safety procedures and collaboration with workshop and field teams to minimize equipment downtime.
Qualifications

- Strong MAG welding skills, including ability to read welding drawings, select appropriate materials, and adhere to safety and quality standards.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy construction or earthmoving equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, cranes, or similar machinery).
- Ability to diagnose faults using basic tools and techniques, perform routine servicing, and carry out component replacement and adjustments.
- Knowledge of workshop safety practices, use of hand and power tools, and proper handling of welding and mechanical equipment.
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in welding, mechanical engineering, or industrial training (ITI or equivalent) is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, service instructions, and equipment diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability in following procedures, and commitment to workplace safety.
- Willingness to work on-site in Chennai, including occasional extended hours based on operational needs.
- Previous experience in the construction equipment, rental, or heavy machinery service industry is an advantage.
