About CutTheQ

CutTheQ kills the canteen queue. Students order and pay from their phone, get a ping when the food is ready, and spend their break actually taking a break instead of standing in line. We're live on campus and rolling out in phases to thousands of students.

About the role

This isn't a training exercise or a mock project. You'll be writing code that real students use to order real food, on a product that's already in production — and you'll be working across the whole stack, not just one slice of it.

Some days that means polishing an ordering flow on the frontend. Other days it means fixing why an order status isn't updating, tracing it through the API, and touching the database. We want someone who's curious about the full path a request takes, not someone who stops at the boundary of their comfort zone.

Small team, so your work matters and your opinions get heard. You'll own features end to end.

What you'll do

- Build features across the stack — UI, API endpoints, and the data layer behind them
- Design and consume REST APIs, and think about what a good API contract actually looks like
- Make it fast and reliable on the phones students actually carry — mobile-first, not desktop-shrunk
- Work with payments, order state, and notifications, where correctness genuinely matters
- Debug live issues in production and ship fixes the same day
- Push ideas for how the product should work,



not just how it should look

What we're looking for

- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, and comfort on both sides of the wire
- Frontend: React (or Angular/Vue), responsive layouts, an eye for detail — you notice when spacing is off or a loading state is missing
- Backend: Node.js or similar, REST API design, and working knowledge of a database (Postgres/MySQL/MongoDB) — you can write a query without copy-pasting one
- Understands the basics of auth, request/response cycles, and where state lives
- Someone who debugs rather than guesses
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent — or self-taught with projects that prove it
- Able to work in office in Bengaluru and move quickly without waiting to be told what to do next

Bonus points

- Deployed something full-stack that other people actually used
- Payment gateway integration (Razorpay/Cashfree)
- Git workflows, Next.js, Tailwind, Redis, or basic cloud/deployment experience
- Any experience with real-time updates — websockets, polling, push notifications
