The Associate will lead and manage the delivery of engineering projects within the energy sector in the UK. The role involves technical leadership, project management, client engagement, team development, and ensuring high-quality design outputs in line with UK standards (Eurocode standards). The Associate will act as a key link between clients, project teams, and senior leadership, driving technical excellence and commercial success.
Responsibilities
As a Overhead Line Engineer Lead, you will design of a range of Overhead Line Circuits at voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
Prepare feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements in the agreed format and review with the PM/PD of Structures
Designing of transmission tower, with the use of PLS Tower & PLS CADD software for transmission line design.
Create all associated Engineering Design calculations and documentation.
Support the creation of all necessary material bill of quantity schedules.
Attend site meetings (virtual)
and provide ongoing design drawing changes / support as required during project build.
Work with WSP UK Team to assemble a design specification compliant with the employers’ requirements, agree its format and content, and monitor and review its preparation ensuring delivery by the due date
Agree and monitor scope of works with the PM/PD of Structures
Clearly define building requirements and purpose of use with the PM/PD Engineer of Structures and WSP UK Team to allow detailed design
Carry out detailed design to WSP and B Regulations standard ensuring CDM, QA and technical review and sign off by the Associate/Principal Engineer of Structures, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues
Review and monitor the production of calculations including QA, technical reviews and sign off
Ensure that information for project costing preparation is completed in requisite detail and to deadlines, and keep the WSP UK Team informed regarding design progress through explanation
