Role: Linux Device Driver Development Engineer
Role Overview

As a Ubuntu/Yocto Kernel Engineer, you will act as a technical authority for Linux kernel drivers and virtualization enablement on Ubuntu-based platforms. You will shape architecture, solve the hardest system-level problems, and guide platform decisions spanning kernel, firmware, and hardware.
This role emphasizes deep technical knowledge rather than people management. You are expected to operate independently across complex problem spaces, unblock multiple teams, and ensure solutions scale from early silicon bring-up through production deployment.
Experience in graphics and display subsystems—especially in virtualized environments—is a robust plus.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain production‑quality Linux kernel drivers, such as IO drivers, Graphics/Display drivers and Storage drivers
Deep involvement in kernel subsystems:
Memory management
DMA & IOMMU
Interrupt handling
Power management and scheduling
Lead debugging of hard‑to‑reproduce kernel failures such as hangs, data corruption,



and performance regressions
Guide upstreaming strategy and downstream customization trade‑offs
· Perform structured root‑cause analysis using logs, traces, dumps, and performance tools
· Drive critical issues from discovery to production closure
· Anticipate failure modes and design preventive solutions
· Design and maintain Yocto layers, recipes, and BSP configurations
· Deep understanding of:
o BitBake
o package selection and dependency management
· Debug complex build and runtime issues across multiple Yocto layers

Preferred Skills
· Deep expertise in Ubuntu Linux kernel internals
· Proven track record in kernel driver development
· Strong hands‑on experience with virtualization and VM technologies
· Expert proficiency in C/C++ and kernel debugging methodologies
· Ability to independently resolve ambiguous, high‑impact system problems
· History of delivering robust, production‑grade software
