Required Skills

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, preferably Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, including database engineering, performance optimization, and platform administration.
- Senior-level Oracle Database Administration expertise is required for at least one assigned resource.
- Experience owning and operating production database platforms, including responsibility for platform reliability, availability, security, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.
- Strong performance engineering skills, including execution plan analysis, query tuning, indexing strategies, and resolving database performance bottlenecks in partnership with application teams.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native database platforms in AWS.
- Strong understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture with the ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering teams.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise using Terraform, including reusable module development, remote state management, environment provisioning, infrastructure lifecycle management, and infrastructure standardization.
- Experience applying DevOps practices, including Git-based development workflows, pull requests, code reviews,



CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong automation mindset with experience using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to eliminate manual operational activities and improve platform efficiency.
- Experience working within Agile engineering teams using contemporary software delivery practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with database, cloud, application, and platform engineering teams.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and expand responsibilities beyond traditional database engineering.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Amazon DynamoDB or other NoSQL database platforms. Dynamo will be one of platform to support.
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of AWS services beyond relational databases, including compute, networking, storage, IAM, Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), and containerization technologies, with the ability to contribute to broader cloud platform engineering initiatives.
- Experience advising application teams on database architecture, schema design, data modeling, and application performance optimization.
- Experience supporting database development activities,



including SQL optimization, stored procedures, migration scripts, and development best practices.
- Experience with database modernization and migration projects.

Team Composition Requirements The assigned team shall consist of two (2) Database Engineers with complementary technical expertise.

- Both engineers shall possess strong PostgreSQL and AWS database engineering experience.
- At least one (1) engineer shall possess senior-level Oracle Database Administration expertise.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and DynamoDB is highly desirable across the team but is not required for both resources.
- The combined team should provide broad coverage across database engineering, cloud platform engineering, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
