Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Solaris Administrator to manage, maintain, and support Solaris-based systems in a mission-critical enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Oracle Solaris, system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Worked on RAC, Cluster, Sun Solaris, Unix, Linux etc

- Install, configure, and administer Oracle Solaris operating systems.
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies.
- Configure and maintain ZFS file systems, storage, and volume management.
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Apply OS patches, upgrades, and security updates.
- Manage system backups, disaster recovery, and restore procedures.
- Support high-availability solutions, clustering, and virtualization (Oracle VM for SPARC/LDOMs, Solaris Zones).
- Configure networking services, including DNS, NFS, SSH, TCP/IP, and routing.
- Develop shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
- Work with application, database, and infrastructure teams to resolve system issues.
- Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security and audit requirements.
- Provide on-call support for production systems as required.

Required Skills

- Strong experience administering Oracle Solaris 10 and Solaris 11.
- Knowledge of ZFS, SMF, IPS package management,



and Solaris Zones.
- Experience with Oracle VM for SPARC (LDOMs).
- Strong understanding of UNIX/Linux operating system concepts.
- Proficiency in Shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell).
- Experience with NFS, LDAP, DNS, SSH, and TCP/IP networking.
- Knowledge of SAN storage and multipathing.
- Experience with system monitoring and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery.
- Understanding of security hardening and patch management.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems (SPARC/SuperCluster).
- Knowledge of Ansible or other automation tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes.
- Experience supporting Oracle Database environments.
- Basic knowledge of Linux administration and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Solaris/UNIX System Administrator.
- Oracle Solaris certification is preferred.
