Field Service Technician — EV Chargers (Installation, Repair & Maintenance)

Massive Mobility Pvt. Ltd. | Full time | 2–4 Years Experience (Electrical / Electronics) | [City] — Field-based

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to install, commission, repair, and maintain our EV chargers — from 3.3kW AC wall-boxes to 120kW DC fast chargers. All units are OCPP-based and connected to our central management system (CMS), so you will work as comfortably with a laptop and a CMS dashboard as with a megger and a torque wrench. You will be the person who gets a charger live, keeps it live, and gets it back online fast when it goes down.

Key Responsibilities

- Install and commission AC chargers (3.3kW–22kW) and DC fast chargers (30kW–120kW) — mounting or foundation fixing, cable laying and glanding, LT panel / distribution board termination, earthing, and enclosure fit-out as per drawings and installation standards.
- Carry out pre-installation site surveys and readiness checks — incoming supply and available load, breaker/RCD ratings, cable sizing, earth pit resistance, mounting space, cable route, and mobile network coverage — and flag gaps before installation begins.
- Commission chargers on the OCPP backend: network/SIM configuration, charge-point registration on the CMS, connector and tariff setup, firmware update, RFID and app-based test transactions, and full charging-cycle validation on a real vehicle where possible.
- Diagnose and repair faults on site down to module and component level — power modules, control and driver PCBs, contactors and relays, MCB/MCCB/RCD/SPD, HMI and display units, guns and cables, cooling fans and thermal management.
- Troubleshoot charging failures using both sides of the system — OCPP error codes,

transaction logs and remote diagnostics from the CMS, plus on-site measurement with multimeter, clamp meter, megger, and oscilloscope where required — then confirm the charger returns to Available and completes a successful session.
- Resolve communication and connectivity issues: 4G/SIM, Ethernet or Wi-Fi backhaul, OCPP connection drops, CCS2 / Type 2 handshake failures, and CAN/PLC communication faults between charger and vehicle.
- Execute preventive maintenance as per checklist — torque and termination checks, thermal inspection, insulation resistance and earth continuity tests, connector and cable wear inspection, cleaning of filters and fans, IP/gasket integrity, and coolant or cooling-system checks on high-power units.
- Close service tickets within defined SLA and uptime targets; update job cards in the service app with readings, photographs, part numbers consumed, root cause, and corrective action.
- Manage tools and spares for your zone — maintain inventory records, and return faulty modules to the workshop with clear fault tagging and observed symptoms.
- Brief site hosts, RWAs, fleet operators, and customers on safe charger use and basic first-level checks; represent Massive professionally at every site.
- Escalate recurring or design-related defects to the R&D; and manufacturing teams with clear evidence and data,

so the same fault does not keep coming back.
- Follow electrical safety practices at all times — correct PPE, safe isolation, lockout-tagout, work permits, and site-specific rules — while working on 415V AC and high-voltage DC systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- ITI (Electrician / Electronics / Wireman) or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on field experience in installation, servicing, or maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment — ideally EV chargers, and otherwise UPS/inverters, solar PV, DG sets, lifts, HVAC, or industrial power equipment.
- Practical working knowledge of 3-phase 415V LT systems — earthing, cable sizing and termination, protection devices (MCB/MCCB/RCD/SPD), and load measurement.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, installation drawings, and PCB layouts, and to isolate a fault to the faulty module or component.
- Confident use of multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester (megger), earth resistance tester, torque wrench, and crimping tools; basic soldering ability for board-level rework.
- Comfortable using a smartphone and laptop for day-to-day work — CMS/backend portal, service app, job cards, firmware upload, and log downloads.
- Clear communication and disciplined documentation — accurate service reports and honest root-cause reporting.
- Willingness to travel across the assigned city/region at short notice, including occasional night, weekend, and holiday breakdown calls. Valid two-wheeler and/or four-wheeler driving licence.
- Comfortable working outdoors and at height or in confined electrical rooms, with strict adherence to safety norms.
