Job Purpose To oversee monitor and manage all welding activities in shipbuilding projects ensuring welding quality production efficiency and compliance with applicable standards procedures and safety norms Key Responsibilities Develop and approve Welding Procedure Specifications WPS Procedure Qualification Records PQR and Welder Qualification Tests WQT in compliance with shipbuilding standards such as AWS D1 1 ASME Section IX ABS DNV LR Review and interpret ship drawings welding symbols and technical documentation to ensure correct execution Select appropriate welding consumables shielding gases materials and methods SMAW GMAW GTAW FCAW SAW MIG MAG Conduct welding trials and process optimization for hull structure pipe welding and equipment installation Ensure proper heat control pre-heating post-weld heat treatment PWHT distortion control and dimensional accuracy Monitor weld quality through visual inspection and coordinate NDT processes UT RT PT MT Collaborate with QA QC teams to resolve welding defects NCRs rework analysis and corrective actions Train supervise and certify welders maintain welding skills matrix Ensure adherence to HSE requirements including WHMIS PPE hot work permits and confined space welding safety Maintain documentation reports test records and compliance logs for audits and classification approvals Required Qualifications Diploma Degree in Mechanical Metallurgical or Welding Engineering Minimum 3-5 years experience in heavy fabrication or shipbuilding environment Job Types Full time Permanent Pay 30 000 00 - 60 000 00 per month Benefits Commuter assistance Health insurance Provident Fund Work Location In person
