DESCRIPTION The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for planning and maintaining daily Supply Chain operations in one or more functional areas such as materials production inventory logistics customer service demand management or order fulfillment This role ensures that both internal and external customers expectations and requirements are consistently met while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall supply chain performance Key Responsibilities Manage Returnable Packaging MRP including resolving horizontal plan shortages Direct 3PL container management centers shipments and oversee intake resolution of supplier- and plant-raised issues Configure and maintain MRP settings for new suppliers part numbers and packaging changes Ensure asset management controls and inventory accuracy for returnable assets Publish weekly KPIs for container management centers and monthly KPIs for Cummins sites Drive QMS improvement plans and lead continuous improvement projects Develop and refine planning system strategies to strengthen supply chain signals Monitor and adjust planning system parameters using standard tools and processes Analyze and interpret Key Performance Indicators KPIs identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions Identify potential supply chain failures assess risks and mitigate them proactively Collaborate with stakeholders internal and external to drive tactical and strategic supply chain improvements Participate in functional process improvement teams and contribute to global supply chain best practices RESPONSIBILITIES Required Competencies Communicates effectively - Delivers clear multi-mode communications tailored to different audiences Customer focus - Builds solid customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions Drives results - Consistently achieves goals even under challenging circumstances Global perspective - Approaches issues with a broad global mindset Manages complexity - Analyzes and solves complex high-volume and sometimes contradictory challenges Optimizes work processes - Identifies and implements efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement Values differences - Recognizes and leverages the value of diverse perspectives and cultures Technical Competencies Materials Planning System Utilization - Manages supply demand plans using the materials planning system as the primary tool with ad hoc analytical support from Excel Access OMS Part Change Control Management - Implements engineering changes e g obsolescence supersessions new part releases while minimizing excess obsolete inventory Plan for Every Part PFEP - Applies PFEP principles to ensure the right part is delivered at the right time quantity and place across the end-to-end supply chain Master Supply Scheduling - Develops and maintains a valid Master Production Schedule aligned with procurement production and replenishment requirements Material Planning - Uses advanced tools e g Advanced Planning Command Centre BI Dashboards for decision-making on parts availability inventory optimization and root cause analysis Materials KPI Management - Interprets and acts on KPIs to drive supply chain performance balancing trade-offs across multiple metrics QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications Bachelor s degree College University or equivalent required Relevant certifications in Supply Chain Logistics or Planning preferred but not mandatory Skills and Experience Minimal to intermediate-level experience in supply chain planning logistics or materials management Hands-on experience with MRP systems and planning tools Knowledge of asset and container management supplier collaboration and inventory controls Exposure to continuous improvement and QMS practices Strong analytical problem-solving and stakeholder management skills Job Supply Chain Planning Organization Cummins Inc Role Category Hybrid Job Type Exempt - Experienced ReqID 2419939 Relocation Package No
