Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical and Surgical Care:
- Perform complex surgeries for cancer treatment, including:
- Breast cancer surgeries (e.g., lumpectomies, mastectomies)
- Gastrointestinal cancers (e.g., colorectal resections, esophageal surgeries)
- Thoracic surgeries (e.g., lung cancer resections)
- Head and neck cancer surgeries (e.g., neck dissections, oral cavity, and laryngeal surgeries)
- Soft tissue sarcoma resections
- Surgical management of melanomas and other skin cancers
- Provide preoperative assessments, operative management, and postoperative care for cancer patients.
- Work closely with oncologists, radiation therapists, and other specialists to create individualized treatment plans.
- Manage both elective and emergency surgical oncology cases.

Multidisciplinary
Collaboration:
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case reviews, and clinical discussions to design personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Collaborate with other specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and palliative care teams, to provide holistic care.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, surgical residents, and medical students during clinical practice and surgeries.

Patient
Counseling and Education:
- Provide clear, compassionate, and empathetic counseling to patients and their families regarding surgical treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Educate patients on postoperative care, including wound care, rehabilitation, and lifestyle modifications to improve cancer treatment outcomes.
- Guide patients and families in making informed decisions about surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and other cancer treatments.
4. Research and Academic Contributions:
- Actively engage in clinical and translational research in the field of surgical oncology.
- Publish research findings in reputable journals and contribute to academic conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Participate in teaching programs for residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in surgical oncology techniques and emerging therapies.
5. Quality and Safety Management:
- Ensure strict adherence to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and patient safety guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits, outcome analysis, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with hospital management to improve surgical oncology services and ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., NABH, JCI).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Qualification:
- MBBS + MS (General Surgery)
- MCh / DNB in Surgical Oncology or equivalent from a recognized medical institution
- Experience:
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Surgical Oncologist, managing both inpatient and outpatient oncology cases.
- Hands-on experience in performing complex oncological surgeries, including breast, gastrointestinal, thoracic, head and neck cancers, and soft tissue sarcomas.
- Experience in minimally invasive surgery techniques for cancer treatment is a plus.
- Licensure:
- Valid medical registration with the State Medical Council or National Medical Council.

- Expert-level knowledge and skills in performing a wide variety of oncological surgeries.
- Strong clinical decision-making abilities, particularly in complex oncology cases.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient counseling, family discussions, and teamwork.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team workplace.
- Strong teaching and mentoring skills for junior staff, residents, and medical students.
- Proficiency in using modern surgical technologies and techniques, including robotic surgery (if applicable).
- Knowledge of hospital and healthcare compliance standards, including patient safety, surgical protocols, and infection control measures.
Desirable Attributes:
- Active participation in professional oncology societies such as the Indian Society of Surgical Oncology (ISSO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), or similar organizations.
- Fellowship or additional training in sub-specialized areas of surgical oncology, such as breast, colorectal, or thoracic surgery.
