Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Provide high-quality medical care to patients under consultant supervision.
- Perform clinical assessments, order and interpret investigations, and implement treatment plans.
- Manage ward rounds, monitor patient progress, and update case notes.
- Respond to medical emergencies, code calls, and acute deteriorations in patient condition.
- Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, etc. (as per department).
Supervision & Teaching:
- Supervise and mentor junior registrars, residents, interns, and medical students.
- Participate in teaching rounds, clinical case discussions, and bedside teaching.
- Contribute to structured academic sessions, journal clubs, and departmental CME activities.
Patient Management & Coordination:
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for holistic patient care (nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, etc.).
- Communicate with patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and care plans.
- Ensure proper discharge planning and follow-up care documentation.
Administrative & Academic Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper handovers.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research activities.
- Assist in developing protocols, SOPs, and clinical pathways.
- Support departmental goals in training, patient safety, and service excellence.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Qualification:
- MBBS with MD/MS/DNB or equivalent in relevant specialty
- Postgraduate diploma holders may also be considered based on experience
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-PG clinical experience (can be adjusted based on institution level)
- Experience in a tertiary care hospital or teaching institution preferred
- Licensure:
- Valid registration with State/National Medical Council
Key Skills:
- Robust clinical acumen and patient care skills
- Ability to lead junior medical staff and manage workload in high-pressure environments
- Sound knowledge of hospital protocols, emergency management, and critical care
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in EMR and hospital information systems
