Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical and Surgical Care:
- Perform neurosurgical procedures including but not limited to:
- Brain tumor resections (primary and metastatic)
- Spinal surgeries (including deformity correction, disc herniation, and spinal stabilization)
- Neurovascular surgeries (e.g., aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations)
- Functional neurosurgery (e.g., deep brain stimulation for movement disorders)
- Pediatric neurosurgery (if applicable)
- Provide pre-operative evaluations, intra-operative decision-making, and post-operative management for neurosurgical patients.
- Supervise and guide neurosurgical teams, residents, and medical students during clinical rounds and surgeries.
- Collaborate with neurologists, neuro-radiologists, and intensivists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients.

Multidisciplinary Team
Collaboration:
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and tumor boards for complex cases involving brain and spinal pathologies.
- Coordinate patient management with other specialties such as oncology, radiology, rehabilitation medicine, and pain management.
- Supervise and support junior surgical staff, including residents, fellows, and medical students.

Patient
Counseling and Education:
- Provide clear, compassionate, and evidence-based counseling to patients and families regarding surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.
- Educate patients on post-operative care, rehabilitation, and potential long-term outcomes.
- Offer second opinions for patients referred for neurosurgical interventions and manage emergency consultations.
4. Academic and Research Contributions:
- Engage in clinical research and publish findings in national and international journals.
- Participate in academic teaching programs, including surgical skills workshops, rounds, and case discussions for medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Attend and contribute to national and international neurosurgical conferences and workshops.
- Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes and patient safety.
5. Quality and Safety Management:
- Ensure strict adherence to the hospital's clinical protocols, patient safety guidelines, and infection control standards.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) programs and contribute to policy development.
- Implement and follow best practices for surgical safety, including participation in surgical safety checklists and audits.
- Engage in regular feedback sessions with colleagues to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Qualification:
- MBBS with MS (General Surgery)
- MCh / DNB in Neurosurgery or equivalent from a recognized medical institution
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5–10 years of experience as a neurosurgeon in a clinical and surgical setting, including complex cases.
- Hands-on experience in managing neurosurgical emergencies, brain tumors, spinal deformities, and neurovascular conditions.
- Experience in minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques (preferred but not mandatory).
- Licensure:
- Valid medical registration with the State Medical Council or National Medical Council

- Advanced expertise in neurosurgical techniques for brain and spine surgeries
- Strong clinical decision-making abilities and expertise in handling complex neurosurgical cases
- Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Robust teaching and mentoring abilities for residents and junior surgical staff
- Ability to perform under pressure, especially in high-risk and emergency surgical situations
- Familiarity with hospital and regulatory guidelines for patient safety, surgical protocols, and compliance standards
- Proficient in the use of surgical technologies, neuro-imaging software, and electronic medical records (EMR)
