Senior Manager Process – Chemical/Plastics

You would be overseeing, analyzing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety. You will drive continuous improvement, manage cross-functional teams, and maintain rigorous regulatory compliance across all polymer and chemical production lines.

Enhance plant productivity, reduce raw material waste, ensure zero-accident safety records, and scale up new polymer formulations from lab to commercial volumes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

F Analyze Production Loops: Monitor and evaluate manufacturing lines to eliminate production bottlenecks, reduce defects, and minimize chemical waste.

F Drive Lean Initiatives: Implement Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies to boost overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and first-pass yield.

F Scale-Up Operations:



Partner with R&D; to scale new polymer compounds, thermoplastics, or specialty chemicals from pilot phase to full-scale commercialization.

2. Project Engineering & Design

F Lead Capital Projects: Direct major process design, plant modifications, and capacity expansion projects from initial feasibility to final commissioning.

F Technical Modeling: Oversee process simulations and equipment sizing (e.g., reactors, extruders, distillation columns) utilizing advanced simulation software.

F SOP & Documentation: Author, review, and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

3. Safety, Quality & Compliance

F Process Safety Management (PSM): Lead risk assessments, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, and regular safety audits to ensure a zero-accident manufacturing setting.

F Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant environmental regulations, global quality frameworks (such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001), and strict operational discipline.

F Contamination Control: Enforce clean-class standards and cleanroom protocols necessary for compounding medical or biopharma-grade plastics.

4. Team Leadership & Resource Management

F Manage Engineering Talent: Mentor, train, and guide a specialized team of process engineers, control systems engineers, and floor technicians.

F Budget Oversight: Develop and manage the process engineering department's capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.

Preferred candidate profile

1.



BE in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science or Plastics Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline with 12 to 15+ years of demonstrable process engineering experience within a chemical plant, petrochemical facility, or plastics/polymer manufacturing environment.

2. Lean Si x Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is preferred

3. Proven track record in process optimisation and change management.

4. Advanced knowledge of process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and process mapping software (e.g., Visio).

5. Deep familiarity with chemical reactors, plastic extrusion, injection molding equipment, compounding systems, and automated control systems (DCS/SCADA).

6. Proven track record of managing technical teams and driving large-scale organizational change.

7. Strong capability to isolate root causes of complex technical failures using data-driven methods.

8. Ability to clearly present key technical data, project timelines, and performance KPIs to executive leadership.

9. Strong analytical skills with experience in process mapping and process redesign.

10. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and project management skills.

11. Experience with change management and driving the adoption of new processes.

12. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
