Purpose/Objective

Head - Railway Services manages railway operations to ensure efficient cargo transportation.
Oversees strategic planning, system optimization, and best practices.
Implements technical training for workforce safety and efficiency.
Drives performance improvements, cost control, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Railway Operations Management: Coordinate cargo handling with departmental heads and Indian Railways.
Plan and manage railway movements, operations, and commercial activities.
Monitor and secure rakes, oversee yard operations, and optimize loco and wagon turnaround times.
Strategy & Planning: Develop long-term strategies for enhancing and expanding railway services within the port.
Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in railway infrastructure and operations.
Budget Control: Prepare and manage the budget for railway services, including operational and capital expenditures.
Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.
Railway Traffic Management: Ensure smooth traffic movement and align railway operations with port activities for optimal efficiency.
Maintenance and Repairs: Review and manage breakdown, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities to meet service standards.
Public Liaison: Work with senior railway officials to secure approvals, rakes, and transparent pending invoices.
Support business development through railway intelligence and liaison.
Risk Management: Assessing potential risks to terminal operations and developing strategies to mitigate and manage these risks effectively.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure statutory compliance, enforce safety norms, and manage internal and external railway commercial audits.
Brand Positioning: Ensure Adani's brand values are shown in all interactions.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications - IRTS - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation, Logistics, Infrastructure Management, or related discipline.
- MBA/Postgraduate Qualification in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Infrastructure Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Experience - 25+ years of progressive experience in railway operations, logistics, transportation, infrastructure, ports, or supply chain sectors.
- Proven leadership experience managing large-scale rail transportation networks and cargo movement operations.
- Strong exposure to Indian Railways ecosystem, DFCCIL, rail infrastructure, container trains, freight corridors, and multimodal logistics.
- Experience in port-led logistics, freight transportation, bulk cargo logistics, or integrated supply chain businesses preferred.
- Prior experience in senior leadership roles such as Head Rail Operations, Chief Logistics Officer, Business Head Rail, Divisional Railway Manager, Senior Railway Executive, or equivalent.
