Role summary
We are looking for a Mechanical Design / CAD Engineer to lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and battery pack components. You will own CAD development, prototyping, testing, DFM, and design validation, while working closely with electronics, systems, and manufacturing teams to turn concepts into manufacturing-ready designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design from concept to production release.
- Design complex mechanical systems, battery pack structures, housings, mounts, and related components.
- Create and review 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
- Build and test prototypes, analyze results, and iterate designs.
- Apply DFM principles to improve manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Scale prototype designs into production-ready hardware.
- Review materials, tolerances, sealing, and thermal considerations.
- Collaborate with electronics, software, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration.
- Handle vendor communication, part corrections,
and production handover.
- Mentor junior engineers and enforce strong design practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD, or product development.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or similar CAD tools.
- Solid understanding of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, DFM, and design iteration.
- Ability to independently own design work and resolve cross-functional technical issues.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
Preferred
- Experience in EV, battery packs, automation, robotics, or electromechanical products.
- Exposure to sheet metal, plastic, machined, structural, sealing, or thermal component design.
- Experience in startup or rapid-paced product development environments.
