Role & responsibilities:-
- Accurately transcribe radiology reports dictated by Radiologists for X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Doppler, Mammography, PET-CT and other imaging modalities as applicable.
- Accurately capture clinical history, examination details, findings, measurements, observations, impressions and recommendations dictated by the Radiologist.
- Proofread and review reports for medical terminology, spelling, grammar, punctuation, numerical values, measurements and formatting accuracy.
- Verify patient identifiers such as Patient Name, UHID/MRN, examination details, accession/study number and date of examination before processing the report.
- Ensure that reports are correctly linked to the appropriate patient and investigation.
- Identify unclear, incomplete or inaudible dictation and obtain clarification from the concerned Radiologist.
- Ensure transcription is completed within the defined Radiology Department Turnaround Time (TAT).
- Prioritize urgent/stat, emergency and other priority reports according to hospital protocol.
- Process and route reports through HIS/HIMS, RIS, PACS, EMR or other approved systems.
- Ensure reports are submitted to the authorized Radiologist for verification/finalization as per hospital workflow.
- Make corrections or amendments only as authorized and in accordance with the hospital's approved reporting process.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of patient information and medical records.
- Follow hospital policies, departmental SOPs, quality procedures, information-security requirements and applicable NABH standards.
- Report patient-identification discrepancies, documentation errors, system issues and other quality-related concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Maintain records related to pending reports, corrections, TAT,
and quality monitoring as required.
- Participate in internal quality audits, competency assessments, training programs and NABH-related assessments when required.
- Coordinate effectively with Radiologists, Radiology technicians, Medical Records, IT, Quality and other concerned departments.
- Follow approved downtime procedures in case of HIS/RIS/PACS or other system unavailability.
- Perform other duties related to radiology documentation and medical transcription as assigned by the Radiology HOD/authorized supervisor.
Preferred candidate profile:-
Required Skills:-
- Strong knowledge of medical and radiology terminology.
- Excellent English grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading skills.
- Good listening and comprehension ability.
- High typing speed with excellent accuracy.
- Knowledge of Radiology reporting terminology and formats.
- Familiarity with HIS/HIMS, RIS, PACS, EMR/EHR and medical transcription software.
- Good computer skills, including MS Office.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet strict TAT and productivity requirements.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and information security.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a hospital workplace.
Educational Qualification:-
- Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Transcription preferred.
- Candidates with relevant experience in Radiology Medical Transcription will be preferred.
Experience:-
- 2 - 7 years of experience in Medical Transcription, preferably in a hospital/diagnostic center.
- Candidates with prior experience in Radiology report transcription will be given preference.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited hospital is an added advantage.
