B.Tech. / .E. / M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, robotics, materials science, production engineering, automation, biomedical, engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant experience of six years, out of which three years should be at Level 7 (44900-142400) or one year should be at Level 8 (47600-151100) or equivalent.
OR
M.Tech. / M.E. with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade point average with relevant
experience of four years. (For applicants with Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline, duration of Ph.D. up to three years will be counted towards experience).
Desirable Experience:
Demonstrated experience (3-5 hears) in operating or managing advanced manufacturing equipment, robotic systems, prototyping facilities, fabrication laboratories, maker or innovation labs, or multi-user technical infrastructure.
Working knowledge of one or more relevant domains such as additive manufacturing, bioprinting,
CNC machining, robotic programming, welding systems, automation platforms, precision
manufacturing, process integration, or GMP-oriented laboratory practices.
Experience in laboratory or facility operations, training coordination, documentation systems,
maintenance planning, quality control, and user-facing technical support.
Familiarity with digital systems for booking, scheduling, service records, reporting, and institutional asset management is desirable.

Job Description / Responsibilities
Key responsibilities
1. Facility operations and resource management:
Manage the end-to-end operations of an assigned cluster of 1820 instruments and facilities,
ensuring maximum uptime, optimal utilization, productive maintenance, timely service delivery, operational compliance, and seamless execution of all facility processes.
2. Team supervision and capability development :
Lead and develop the technical team by driving performance, building technical competency, enabling cross-functional capability, and fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
3. Quality assurance and technical service delivery :
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable analytical services by maintaining technical excellence, robust quality systems, standardized workflows, and effective scientific support across the assigned facilities.
4. User support and scientific coordination :
Provide expert technical consultation to internal and external users by aligning analytical
requirements with appropriate instrumentation, methodologies, facility capabilities, and specialist
support
5. Pricing, utilization growth, and business support :
Support revenue growth and optimal facility utilization through strategic pricing, technology
promotion, user outreach, and effective implementation of approved commercial policies.
6. Training and Communications :
- Lead training, outreach, and knowledge-sharing initiatives by developing user competency,
organizing technical programs,
creating SOPs and training resources, and promoting awareness and adoption of CSIF facilities.
- Ensure effective stakeholder communication, laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and
governance by maintaining high service standards, coordinating with internal and external
stakeholders, and enforcing institutional quality and safety protocols.
Performance expectations :
The role is expected to deliver measurable outcomes aligned with the cluster KRA-KPI framework, including:
- Achieve high operational performance through >80% instrument uptime, >70% utilization, reduced turnaround times, and timely execution of all operational processes and compliance requirements.
- Ensure technical and service excellence by developing a multi-skilled workforce, delivering
high-quality analytical services, maintaining effective stakeholder communication, supporting
commercial objectives, and achieving zero major safety incidents. Required qualifications and
experience
Relevant Experience
- Working knowledge of three or more relevant domains such as microscopy, bio-imaging, cell
culture, flow cytometry, sequencing, biophysical characterization, culture management,
crystallography, or computational biology.
- Experience in laboratory or facility operations, training coordination, documentation systems,
maintenance planning, quality control, and user-facing technical support.
- Familiarity with digital systems for booking, scheduling, service records, reporting, and institutional asset management is desirable.
Compensation range
Pay: Pay Level 10 (Rs 56100 - Rs 177500)
(Gross Pay includes Basic Pay + Dearness allowance + House Rent Allowance + Transport
Allowance + Dearness allowance on Transport allowance)
