Role & responsibilities
- Design and develop Power Electronics hardware for AC-DC, DC-DC converters, battery chargers, VCU and motor control applications.
- Perform Analog, Digital and Mixed-Signal circuit design, simulation and development.
- Design and validate power converter topologies, gate driver circuits and protection circuits.
- Develop hardware for MOSFET/IGBT-based power electronic systems.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, verification and validation of prototypes.
- Develop and execute hardware test plans and qualification activities.
- Conduct EMI/EMC analysis and compliance testing as per applicable standards.
- Perform component selection, power-loss estimation, efficiency calculations, thermal analysis and worst-case analysis.
- Carry out converter stability analysis, including pole-zero analysis and Bode plots.
- Support magnetics design including inductors, transformers, core selection and loss estimation.
- Develop and review current/voltage sensing, signal conditioning and isolation circuits.
- Collaborate with PCB/ECAD teams for layout reviews covering EMC, DRC, creepage/clearance, thermal and DFM/DFA requirements.
- Use LTspice, PSIM, MATLAB and PLECS for circuit modelling, simulation and optimization.
- Work with cross-functional teams including PCB Design, Embedded Software, Mechanical and System Engineering.
- Interact with customers to understand technical requirements, simulation objectives and product specifications.
- Prepare design specifications, engineering BOMs, DFMEA, test plans, test reports and validation documentation.
- Support hardware qualification against relevant automotive/industrial standards.
- Apply knowledge of motor control techniques for AC/DC, BLDC and PMSM motors.
- Take individual ownership of assigned projects and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Preferred candidate profile
- 510 years of relevant experience in Power Electronics Hardware Design, Embedded Hardware or related domains.
- B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Power Electronics or Instrumentation.
- Solid hands-on experience in AC-DC, DC-DC converters, power supplies and battery charger design.
- Experience in Analog, Digital and Mixed-Signal hardware design.
- Good knowledge of MOSFET/IGBT, gate driver circuits, protection circuits and power semiconductor devices.
- Experience with BLDC/PMSM/AC motor control and automotive/industrial power electronics.
- Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal management, signal conditioning and isolation techniques.
- Hands-on experience in hardware bring-up, debugging, testing, verification and validation.
- Proficiency in LTspice, PSIM, MATLAB, PLECS and PCB design tools such as Altium/Cadence.
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet and USB interfaces.
- Experience working with Microcontrollers, Microprocessors and FPGA-based systems will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of magnetics design, stability analysis, Bode plots and control algorithms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex hardware issues.
- Experience in preparing design specifications, BOMs, DFMEA, test plans, validation reports and technical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Candidates from Automotive, EV, Power Electronics, Industrial Electronics or Embedded Hardware domains are preferred.
