The Design Head will lead the design and tool engineering function, driving innovation in forging

processes for automotive parts. Reporting to senior leadership, this role focuses on aluminum

alloy forgings, new product development (NPD), process simulations, and ensuring precision

tooling for high-volume production while upholding quality standards like PPAP, DFMEA, and ISO

compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Design & Tool Engineering Leadership:

- Oversee end-to-end tool design and engineering for OpenDie /closed Die/ Roller forging,

with expertise in aluminum alloys (e.g., Al 6082) and ferrous/non-ferrous materials for

2-wheeler components like housing , Yolk , Clamps, crankshafts, gears, and lightweight

parts.

- Lead CAD modeling (NX Unigraphics or equivalent), drafting, and die design optimization

for cost-efficiency and die life extension.

New Product Development & Simulations:

- Spearhead NPD from concept to production, including process modeling, FEM

simulations, heat treatment correlations, and validation for automotive .

- Conduct deformation behavior studies, feasibility analyses (e.g., warm/cold forging of

aluminum), and lightweight material innovations.

Materials & Testing Expertise:

- Direct mechanical testing (fatigue LCF/HCF, fracture toughness,, creep, rotating bending)

and metallurgical characterization for forging billets and finished components.

- Perform failure analysis, fractography, and shop-floor problem-solving to enhance





forging yields and material performance.

Compliance, PPAP & IP Management:

- Ensure DFMEA, PPAP documentation, and ISO audit readiness; manage RFQ responses

for advanced alloys (Ti, Ni-based, aluminum).

- Drive intellectual property initiatives, including patent filing, prior art searches, and

innovation in forging technologies.

Team & Project Leadership:

- Build and mentor a high-performing design team, setting KPIs for NPD timelines,

simulation accuracy, and project delivery.

- Collaborate with production, quality, sales, and QA for raw material optimization,

production planning (SAP), and customer projections in 2-wheeler OEMs.

Qualifications:

- M.Tech/MS in Mechanical/Materials Engineering (IIT, NIT or equivalent preferred);

B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

- 15+ years in forging design/development, with 8+ years leading teams in

automotive/2-wheeler (aluminum focus).

- Proven expertise in FORGE/NX/ DFORM /Q FORM simulations, aluminum forging,

fatigue/fracture mechanics, and IP management (patents granted/filled).

- Solid track record in PPAP/DFMEA, exotic materials (Ti6Al4V, Inconel), and shop-floor

implementation.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills; publications/conferences in

forging technology preferred.

- Proficiency in CAD/CAM, FEM tools, MS Office, SAP; trainings in GD&T;, IPR, fracture

mechanics advantageous.
