Job Title: BI Engineer
Position Overview
Our BI team builds and maintains the data models and semantic layer that power reporting and analytics across PulsePoint's advertising platform. We're looking for a Senior BI Developer who can take ownership of LookML development and help us push the quality and depth of our Looker implementation further. This is a heads-down technical role — you'll be working closely with data and backend engineers rather than fielding requests from business users. The right person is someone who genuinely enjoys the craft of data modeling and isn't intimidated by a complex, large-scale BigQuery workplace.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve LookML models, views, and explores across the Looker semantic layer
- Write and manage Liquid (Jinja2, Shopify flavor) templating logic for agile and parameterized content within Looker
- Write advanced SQL queries in BigQuery to support data modeling, debugging, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with data engineers on dbt models,



ensuring the semantic layer accurately reflects the underlying data
- Identify and resolve data quality and consistency issues across models and explores
- Review and refactor existing LookML for performance, maintainability, and accuracy
- Document data models and business logic to support long-term maintainability

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a BI development or data modeling role
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- Deep hands-on experience with LookML and Looker, including complex explores and derived tables
- Strong working knowledge of Liquid templating (Jinja2, Shopify flavor) within Looker
- Advanced SQL skills with production experience in BigQuery
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and dimensional design

- Experience with the Looker Extension Framework for building custom embedded applica
