Job Description:

A General Manager (GM) for the Sponge Iron Division (SID/DRI) in a steel manufacturing plant is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall operation, profitability, and strategic direction of the division. This role requires 15-20 years of experience managing kiln operations, raw material handling, and production, focusing on optimizing efficiency, quality control, and safety, often within the Chhattisgarh steel belt. Key Responsibilities

- Production & Operations: Lead daily operations of the sponge iron plant/rotary kilns to achieve production targets, managing raw materials and final DRI product quality.
- Strategic & Financial Management: Develop and implement operational strategies, manage P&L;, control costs, and ensure maximum capacity utilization.
- Maintenance & Equipment: Oversee the upkeep and performance of process equipment, including mechanical maintenance.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (e.g.,



handling high-temperature molten metal) and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory norms.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and skill development.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

- Experience: 15-20 years in production, operation, or maintenance within a steel/SID/DRI plant.
- Qualifications: Typically B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Location: Often located in industrial hubs like Raipur or Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
- Key Skills: Solid leadership, operational knowledge of rotary kilns, cost control, troubleshooting, and team management.
