Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet and assist patients or customers with their pharmaceutical needs.
Provide information on over-the-counter medications, treatments, and health-related inquiries.
Medication Preparation:
Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Label medications and ensure accurate dosing instructions.
Prepare medication trays for patients in hospitals or clinics.
Inventory Management:
Stock and organize medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
Monitor and track inventory levels to ensure medications and supplies are adequately stocked.
Assist with ordering medications and supplies when needed.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate patient records, including prescription details, medication history, and dosage instructions.
Input and update prescription data into pharmacy software systems.
Prescription Management:
Verify patient prescriptions for accuracy and completeness.
Assist pharmacists in processing insurance claims and billing.
Compliance and Safety:
Follow regulatory guidelines and safety protocols when handling medications and patient information.
Ensure controlled substances are securely stored and documented according to legal requirements.
Administrative Tasks:
Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and handle inquiries.
Process payments and manage customer transactions.
Communication:
Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and other team members to ensure proper care and medication management for patients.
Relay any concerns or discrepancies to the pharmacist.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: A diploma pharmacy or equivalent or bachelor in paramedical sceince . Some employers may require additional certification or training in pharmacy assistance.
Knowledge: Familiarity with pharmaceutical terms, medications, and the pharmacy's software systems.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy when preparing medications and managing records.
Communication Skills: Solid interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and the healthcare team.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a tidy workspace.
