Pre-Loading Preparation
De-burr Part: Clean the raw stock or pre-machined part to remove sharp edges.
Clean Vise/Fixture: Use an air gun to blow away chips from the jaw surfaces.
Verify Stock: Check raw material dimensions before placing it inside. [1]
Loading & Machine Cycle
Seat the Material: Place the workpiece firmly against the fixture locators.
Secure Clamping: Tighten the vise or activate pneumatic clamps securely.
Check Seating: Use a feeler gauge to ensure no gap exists underneath the part.
Run Cycle: Close safety doors and press Cycle Start.
Unloading & Cleaning
Wait for Stop: Open doors only after the spindle stops completely.
Air Wash: Blow coolant and metal chips off the finished part while clamped.
Unclamp:
Release the part carefully to avoid dropping and denting it.
Final Wipe: Clean the component thoroughly with a cloth before measuring.
Quality Inspection
Visual Check: Inspect for visible defects like burrs, scratches, or chatter marks.
Critical Dimensions: Measure key tolerances using micrometers or Vernier calipers.
Thread Verification: Use go/no-go plug or ring gauges to check threads.
Log Results: Record the dimensions on the shift quality sheet. [1]
