Role Description The Rural Business Development Associate role is a full-time, on-site position based in Pachpadra. This role focuses on expanding PhonePe’s presence in rural markets by identifying and onboarding local merchants, partners, and influencers. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting market research to understand local needs, generating leads through field visits and outreach, and delivering clear presentations and product demos to stakeholders.

The associate will maintain strong communication with merchants, support them in adopting PhonePe solutions, and monitor performance and usage trends.



The role also involves collaborating with internal teams to share market insights, execute rural growth initiatives, and ensure consistent brand visibility in the region.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Presentation Skills and the ability to create and deliver effective Presentations to diverse rural audiences.
- Candidates should possess Lead Generation capabilities, including identifying prospects, building local networks, and converting opportunities into active partners.
- Candidates should possess Market Research skills to gather field-level insights, analyze rural customer behavior, and inform business strategies.
- Candidates should possess transparent and confident Communication skills in English and local languages to engage merchants, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Relevant experience in rural sales, business development, or field operations, preferably in fintech, FMCG, or telecom sectors.
- Ability to work independently on-site, travel within the assigned territory, and manage time and priorities effectively.
- Basic understanding of digital payments and mobile applications; comfort with using smartphones and productivity tools.
- Graduate degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
